Even within our plastic surgery scope of practice, second opinions are recommended.

Our Commitment to Data Security

We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online, to prevent unauthorized access to that information, and to make sure that information is accurate and is used correctly.

Information you send to us is stored on a password-protected, firewalled server that utilizes Secure Socket Layers (SSL) encryption to prevent outside parties from accessing that information easily. However, communications through our Web site or via email are not encrypted and are not necessarily secure. Use of the Internet or email is for your convenience only, and by using them, you assume the risk of unauthorized use.

Our Patient Portal

Over the upcoming weeks our office will become chartless and all patient information will be stored on our server with a cloud based back up. The server is encoded to protect from spye-software, hacking and deletion. We will also provide individual patient information such as chart notes, operation records, and test/lab results to our individual patients in a private and secure fashion and with transparency to the patient using our own patient portal, which will require patient specific password and user name log ins.

General Information Regarding Patient Rights to Privacy

Our office carefully follows the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, Public Law 104-191. We also follow The Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act (PSQIA) of 2005 which as enacted in 2009. HIPAA, later modified to include health care providers who provide standard health care transactions electronically. This act and it’s subsequent modifications protect the privacy of individually with identifiable health information; the HIPAA Security Rule, which sets national standards for the security of electronic protected health information; the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, which requires covered entities and business associates to provide notification following a breach of unsecured protected health information; and the confidentiality provisions of the Patient Safety Rule, which protect identifiable information being used to analyze patient safety events and improve patient safety. PSQIA has 4 subparts: A-D all of which allow for reporting of safety issues while maintaining confidentiality and patient privacy.
