Skin Resurfacing
What is Resurfacing
Also known as MicroLaser Peel
What is Resurfacing?
A MicroLaser Peel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in your physician’s office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
MicroLaser Peel is the newest advancement in skin resurfacing, smoothing the skin’s surface and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, irregular pigmentation
What to expect during the Resurfacing procedure?
When considering either of these cosmetic laser peels, it’s important to understand the wide variance of treatment intensity and downtime you can choose from, depending on your needs. For example, the patient shown above underwent one 30-micron MicroLaser® Peel treatment and the photos show her skin before treatment and 5 months after treatment. The downtime associated with this highest strength MicroLaser® Peel is typically 5-7 days as it’s essentially a light (meaning a relatively shallow skin depth) full skin resurfacing procedure.
This innovative anti-aging treatment stimulates collagen in the dermis, promoting continued skin improvement for up to six months. The procedure is customized to the needs of each individual and to the specific skin conditions to be corrected. Laser resurfacing may be performed on the whole face or in specific regions. Laser resurfacing is usually very precise and causes little damage to the surrounding skin and tissue. MicroLaser Peel offers a shorter healing process than other resurfacing methods, with only mild discomfort, limited down time, and remarkable results that can be seen in just a few days.
What to expect during the recovery for Resurfacing?
Generally, the stronger MicroLaser® Peel requires only a single treatment to yield excellent results. However, results vary by patient, skin type and condition. Because only a thin layer of your outermost dermis is treated, you see obvious improvements in tone, texture, and color evenness as soon as your skin heals. Typically, this is within 3-4 days of your procedure.
