What is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Sculptra Aesthetic is an injectable, biocompatible dermal filler made up of poly-L-lactic acid, which is a polymer synthetically derived from natural components and therefore offers a low risk of allergic reaction. It is injected into the skin folds surrounding the nose and mouth to help reduce the recesses caused by loss of collagen. Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin to correct the effects of fat loss and natural age-related bone loss.

Sculptra is an injectable volumizing anti-aging treatment that stimulates the build-up of the body’s own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore lost facial volume to give you a fuller, younger-looking face. The treated area will plump over the first three weeks following treatment, after which your physician can determine if another treatment session is needed. A treatment regimen may include as many as four sessions, with each session being about three weeks apart, and the results last up to two years.

Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra Aesthetic produces gradual results over time. Sculptra Aesthetic works by filling wrinkles with poly-L-lactic particles and by encouraging collagen regeneration in the deeper layers of the skin.

Before Sculptra Aesthetic Treatment:

Tell your doctor if you are taking any medications and make sure to give a complete medical history.
Remove your makeup.

During Sculptra Aesthetic Treatment:

Treatment area will be cleaned with antiseptic.
Sculptra Aesthetic will be injected into the skin in multiple small increments using a fine needle in a grid pattern.
The treated area will be massaged in order to make sure the product is distributed evenly in the skin.

After Sculptra Aesthetic Treatment:

You may experience redness, swelling, pain, or bruising immediately after treatment, especially at the injection sites.
You should be able to return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Make-up can be applied a few hours after treatment in most cases.
Apply an ice pack to the treated area to help reduce swelling.
Massage the treated area for 5 minutes 5 times per day for 5 days after treatment.
Avoid sun and UV exposure until visible side effects have disappeared.

Side Effects of Sculptra Aesthetic

You may experience swelling, tenderness, and redness in the treated area immediately after an injection session. Less common side effects after treatment may also include post-injection site pain, bruising, bleeding, and localized itching. In rare cases, nodules or papules can develop in the treated area.
